Playin in the park

snuggles was let off her leash as they arrived at the park. snuggles stretched and ran after a small squirrel.

Muffin scampered into the park. After the mall incident, her dog-sitter decided to let her out of the purse on walks more often. Well, more often then never, at least. That was a start. She stretched her legs and trotted over to a dirt mound. Something was under there.

Being in a purse all the tie with little time with other animals really did not help in her teachings of the way of the dog...such as the fact you shouldn't unearth something you didn't bury yourself. However, she dug up a large, thick, juicy bone and yipped in joy as she lugged it out of the hole. She began gnawing on it.

snuggles stopped chasing the squirel after about 2 minutes. she trotted over after seeing muffin digging "hey, where did you get the bone?" she asked.

Muffin stopped biting it. She wagged her tail when she saw Snuggles. "Hi Snuggles! Oh, i just dug it up around here. I could smell it under this dirt pile-or what used to be a dirt pile." She added, nodding at the hole. "Lucky me, huh?"

"i suggest you put it back" she said sounding a little worried "It may belong to one of the meaner dogs around here" she added looking around.

Muffin tilted her head. "Meaner dogs? But how can any dogs possibly be mean on such a nice day?" She asked. Muffin obviously didn't know anything. "Thought I suppose I wouldn't like my stuff being gnawed on. Okay, I'll put it back!" She nodded, kicking the bone back in the hole.

"thank you" she said "now lets go chase some squirrels or something" she said.

"Sounds fun!" Muffin replied cheerily, following Snuggles. She was lucky there were no...disturbances at the moment.

snuggles used her nose and found one up a tree barking she got on her hind legs.

Muffin just watched in confusion. "What are you doing? Or, what should I, like, be doing? I've never chased squirrels before..."

"I cant tell" snuggles joked "you dont have to but i like to do this" she said.

Muffin gasped. "No way! I'll learn! I'll learn!" She added quickly, looking her friend up and down, studying her position before awkwardly placing her to front paws on the bark and letting out pitiful small yelps at the squirrel supposedly there. She had no idea what she was doing, only that apparently part of this game was to bark first, as if telling the squirrel to play chase.

Chance ran into the park, breathing in the fresh air. He loved going on walks with his owner so much! It was his time to let go and take a break from watching the toddlers, and keeping them out of trouble in his house. He looked around for any squirrels, possibly other dogs, when he saw the mound of dirt he had made yesterday all messed up. Perking his ears in surprise, he darted over to it, sniffing it closely with his nose. He raised his head when he heard the tiny cries of a chihuahua and a toy poodle.

Snuggle barked with her "see fun" she said in between barks

"Yeah! Fu-" She cut off as she caught movement from the corner of her eye. "Oh no..." She whimpered, craning her ears towards Chance as he began to slowly pad over, dirt on his paws. He smelled of the bone. "Will he hurt us?!" She squeaked quietly.

Snuggles turned her head at the new dog "hopefully not but you messed with his bone" she said. Once Chance was close enough she said "him I'm snuggles and this muffin"

Muffin took a few steps back as he approached. "H-hi...Sorry I didn't know it was your bone! Please don't hurt us!" She blurted out suddenly.

Chance just laughed cheerily at her fear. "Hurt you? Why would I hurt two innocent-not to mention high class and beautiful-dogs like you over a little misunderstanding? Besides, I'm sure I can't take on two dogs at once. I'm not that much bigger than you!" He added, nodding to Snuggles. "I'm Chance. Nice to meet ya!"

"see muffin" she said "want to chase some squirrels with us?" she offered chance

Muffin nodded slowly. "Oh okay, thanks for the compliment!" She added to the newcomer with an embarrassed nod. She glanced at Snuggles. "Yeah, why don't you? It'll be fun..once I learn how to play this game." She added, looking at her paws yet again, embarrassed.

Chance wagged his tail. "Sure. I'm pretty fast!" He barked, glancing up the tree. "Smells like you found a tree with at least a squirrel or two in there. I can get it down if you want." He offered, pacing around the tree. "Then, once it starts running, you just chase after it until it's in another tree, got it?" He explained to Muffin. She nodded eagerly.

"how do you expect to get this squirrel down" she asked

Chance again laughed. "With an o'l trick I came up with, 'course!" He replied, stopping at a rather smooth part of tree bark. "This should be good 'nough." Suddenly, he struck out with his back legs, sending the leaves shaking. There was a squeal of alarm and a squirrel darted down the tree trunk.

"wow nice trick" she said bounding from her spot after the squirrel

"Thanks." Chance replied, keeping pace with her. Muffin galloped behind on unsteady legs. She wasn't used to this just yet.

Snuggles barked as she ran almost catching the squirrel

Chance suddenly dashed ahead, snapping the squirrel's tail in his jaws before tossing it the other direction, playing with it. "There it goes again!" He laughed, watching it bolt towards the original tree. Muffin trudged slowly up to him. "Slow down!" She whimpered, but he had already bolted away after the squirrel. "Come on Snuggles!" He barked happily.

"let's give muffin a breather along with the squirrel" she laughed sitting down beside the tree
